Alan Jay - Profile

Educated at Westminster School and University College Oxford, where he got a degree in Engineering Science and produced and released a feature film "Mouche".

After University he spent two years studying accountancy before entering publishing eventually editing and publishing a computer newsletter "Connectivity" - publishing for a small company led him to also act as financial controller producing full accounts pack for auditing.

In 1988 as a service for subscribers to "Connectivity" he started providing Internet email access and this was followed by launching a successful Internet ISP (WinNET) in the early 1990's. During this period he became involved with a group of hobbyists involved with creating a database called the Internet Movie Database (www.IMDb.com) and took that from text based hobby to commercial Internet enterprise and top 50 internet site.

In 1998, after three years as one of the few profit making internet companies, the Internet Movie Database was sold to Amazon.com in a record-breaking, multi-million dollar deal. He left the Internet Movie Database in 1999 to develop other projects. Since then he has returned to his first love - movies - and developed a number of scripts with Cyclops Vision and other writers, directors and companies.
